haxx0r gunman stepped from the shadows of the smoking crater. So, Vek, my oldest nemesis. Possibly even my greatest nemesis . . . but the perfect nemesis? Far from it. After all, he, like so many others before him, has killed only my shadow. And shadows are made to die. Still . . . CWAL's tyranny must not go unmarked. I believe it is time to return to New Chicago.

New Chicago had been built on top of the remains of the original Chicago, after the Chicago Fire 2 in 2023. New Chicago was really brought to life by the efforts of multibillioncreditaire playboy Jason Starman. With his bank account and vision, the city teemed with life just as its predecessor had.
Set to inherit Starman Industries was Jason's own sun, a reckless young flight student named Vek. Vek was brash and JoystickJy, but he had the same spark that his father did, and as a result quickly became quite the hotshot pilot.
He also fell in love with another flight student, the beautiful young Kim Johnstar. But Kim, unfortunately, did not return his affection. She had fallen for the school's top student, none other than haxx0r gunman. haxx0r gunman had little desire for a relationship. Except for with one, but that tale is not for this time.
So, as a result of this bizarre love triangle, haxx0r gunman found himself to be in constant competition with Vek. The final day of flight school saw haxx0r gunman running a test flight of new XR-35B Fighters with Vek. When they were out of the school's sensor range, Vek opened fire on haxx0rgunman. A fierce battle ensued that saw Vek shot out of the sky. He survived his subsequent crash-landing with surprisingly no wounds, other than to his pride.
After his defeat at the hands of his rival, Vek seemed to lose direction in his life. He sulked around drinking Vasparian Ale, doing nothing. Until one day, he was approached by Dr. Heinrich, recruiter for CWAL. Hoping that CWAL would be able to utilize Vek's upcoming inheritance, Heinrich convinced the young man that he could get purpose, and revenge, if he joined. Soon after his father was mysteriously killed in an investigation that was never brought to a close.

But haxx0r gunman had a feeling he knew who did it. And his feelings were seldom wrong. He stepped off the cybertram onto the streets of New Chicago. The once flourishing city was now, under CWAL's control, not much more than one gigantic slum. But there were still a few useful things, if one knew where to look. haxx0r gunman entered a seemingly abandoned warehouse.
Inside, he found Arturo Gonzales, just the man he was looking for. The transient seemed like a no-good bum to most, but to haxx0r gunman, he was a gold mine. Not truly of gold, though, but of information. Information of CWAL's operations within New Chicago. He was woken up by the cold, hard metasteel of a 2x haxx0rgun pressed against his forehead.
"Wha!? Oh, ha-haxx0r gunman??? It's you!" Arturo laughed nervously. He was not always on the best of terms with haxx0r gunman.
"Arturo Gonzales, I come seeking information. If you do not provide the information I desire, then I will provide your brain with a 2x haxx0rbolt it most certainly does not desire. Do you understand?"
"Of . . . of course haxx0r gunman, but why is it necessary for such a violent interogation?"
"Simple, Arturo . . . " A single 2x haxx0rbolt spiraled through the man's head, flinging brain and bone throughout the room. "It is not." He turned and walked from the building.
With Arturo dead, haxx0r gunman would have to find a different means of locating Vek. Luckily, haxx0r gunman had plenty of tricks up his sleeve. Namely of the cyberator variety.
He pulled out his cyberator and, on a whim, scanned the city for lameon particles. Just as he had hoped, he found a large concentration of them at the center of the city, which had to be Vek, having flown into a Lameon field not 12 hours earlier. haxx0r gunman set off for the source of the readings.
Vek was holed-up in a room in a shabby apartment building in the heart of downtown New Chicago. He had CWAL's best, and most heavily-armed, bodyguards outside his door. haxx0r gunman would not be coming for him tonight. Or would he? Vek turned around to find himself looking down the barrel of a 2x haxx0rgun.
"So, Vektor, revenge turned out to be your greatest nemesis. All these years, all the pain, all the fighting comes down to this one single moment. Was it worth it? Was it worth it all?"
Vektor stared into haxx0r gunman's cold eyes for several long moments before replying. "Yes it was. Just to say . . ." His face broke into a contented smile, "Just to say that I flew with the gunman." Pure green 2x energy pushed Vektor into the next life as haxx0r gunman squeezed his finger tight around the trigger of hix 2x haxx0rgun. Upon hearing the noise, the bodyguards burst into the room and opened fire on haxx0r gunman. But they were too late; they killed only his shadow.
